The aim of this course is to provide a short practice on boat handling and safety on powerboats being used on all Irish waters.
The aim of this course is to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to safely and effectively skipper an open powerboat by day on familiar inland and coastal waters.
Bellacragher Bay Boat Club was formed in 2003 by Seamus Butler, Claggan, and Brian Masterson Owenduff in response to interest from people in Achill, Mulranny, and Ballycroy. In choosing a name, they picked the bay that links all three areas together.
The club members come from varied backgrounds but many have strong marine backgrounds and experience in all manner of boating activities, cruiser sailing, dinghy sailing, canoeing, powerboating, commercial fishing, and diving/skiing/kiting. Join us for a sailing course in Ireland today!
Join us on our Solar Walk and Astrophotography Workshop during the Fourth Edition of Mayo Dark Sky Festival.
From 1 – 3 November, the ‘Friends of Mayo Dark Skies’ in Newport, Mulranny and Ballycroy will host a three-day feast of talks, workshops, walks, and stargazing. Download the Program here!
Excellent day sailing with helpful and friendly instructor's (Seamus) Plenty of different activities for young and old!
– Martin K. | TripAdvisorHad an amazing boat trip out with Liam and Cian showing us the sights of Ballycroy, Inisbiggle, and Achill and so lovely to see from a different angle. Took amazing pictures! We have two boys aged 7 and 8 and they loved it. Liam is full of local knowledge. Definitely, recommend making a booking great way to spend some time!
– Sandy B. | TripAdvisorAs complete novices we really enjoyed this and Seamus made everything so easy and fun. Definitely recommended!
– Adam Q. | TripAdvisorA group of 5 friends and I completed our National Powerboat license with Seamus. He was friendly and welcoming from the very beginning. He is a naturally jovial man with great knowledge of sailing and water sports. The facilities are ideal, nestled in a beautiful bay with an impressive view of the Nephins mountain range. The best thing about our visit was the hilarious stories told with great wit!
– Shane M. | TripAdvisorIt was a great few days of sailing. I really enjoyed it. I learned loads of new skills. I was on a catamaran which was very exciting doing over 30 km/h. Seamus and his team are very helpful and enthusiastic. I really recommend doing this to everyone.
– Liam B. | TripAdvisorI've been here a few times with a group of friends. Always really good fun. I've tried sailing, both accompanied and solo, in different types of boats, and also done wakeboarding. Seamus is a great guide and it's all done in a beautiful part of Co. Mayo. It's a great way to spend a weekend!
